The 57th monumental fight of Manny Pacquiao against Mexican boxer Antonio Margarito

With 51 wins, 3 loses and 2 draws in his professional boxing career, People's champ Manny (Emmanuel) Pacquiao, now a neophyte congressman of Saranggani province in Mindanao, Philippines will test his 'worth' as he battles against his latest antagonist, Mexican former world boxing champ Antonio Margarito for the vacant WBC junior welterweight title. Hundred thousands of fans will surely watch this penultimate event on Pacman's career at the Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas, USA on the night of November 13, 2010 (Sunday morning herein the Philippines).
This will be another traffic-stopping fight as it will be shown via live feed on sports TV and selected movie houses and entertainment centers in the country.
I'll stay home,  but there will be a lot of cheering.
It's gonna be like a modern version fight of 'David and Goliath' as MArgarito towers over Pacquiao.
Pacquiao is equipped with speed, lots of punches and footworks while Margarito boasts of his height and arms reach.
I'm sure a lot of bettors, big time or small time  will  cast their lots for their bets.
I'm not betting.
I'll just finish the fight and see who will be knockout in the end.
Managers and promoters will be a lot richer.

What's this 'thing' called COPYSENTRY?

PLAGIARISM abound in the net. I used to research my topics before but I seldom ask permission to the authors due to time constraint. Even if I paraphrase it without asking the necessary approval from the original writers, it will be a grave proof that I committed 'plagiarism'.

Good thing I discovered COPYSENTRY. It's a product by Indigo Stream Technologies, provider of Giga Alerts , along with Copyscape that you can get through Premium account.

Anti-plagiarism banners that you can put on your page will warn or alarm potential plagiarists to wholly copy your articles or hubs (in Hubpages). The COPYSENTRY will be informed through the link from your page that someone is trying to copy your material.

You can share this information an be part of the CopySentry Forum if you're interested.

Unique Campaigns at Barangay Elections 2010

DO YOUR OWN THING!

Most of the candidates will have to be resourceful these days in order to outdo opponents. Starting from the campaign materials, music and jingles up to the highly-contested miting de avance, a barangay election candidate must have a concrete goal in order to draw voters, old and new registrants.

That's how I observe the forthcoming BARANGAY ELECTIONS 2010 here n the Philippines come October 25th.

I've seen many antics and strategies that candidates are showing when the campaign period started yesterday. There are colorful parades, shower of candies and all.

One barangay can have two or three barangay captain candidates. There are even independent candidates who believe that they have the capacity to serve the people in their vicinity.

I'm sure, VOTE-BUYING will be rampant before and on the election day. I know how a Filipino family is closely-knit with each other. The father or mother of a certain family or clan will surely influence  their siblings or children.

Coinciding the local elections is the SK (Sangguniang Kabataan) elections. Young as they are, they also believe that they can handle the pressure in handling key positions at the local electorate or the youth seat at the barangay council.

Okay, let's wait and see who wins and who will be defeated. Good luck to all! Just avoid being violent (as early news revealed). Win or loose, it is just another competition that should be respected by everyone, the voters and the candidates.

UNDAS preparations

I've been waiting for a PUJ (public utility jeepney) or simply 'dyipney' in our Filipino language, in the old GSIS building of Naga City last Wednesday (October 13th, 2010) that will carry me to the town of Magarao to attend to a birthday invitation, when I passed an array of marble shops in Barlin Street. I ignored it first because my concentration was to take a photo at the Porta Mariae (Mary's Gate) at the Naga Cathedral Church.

As I waited for the 'dyip' to pass by, I was drawn to the tinkering sound made by a middle-aged lady on the slab of marble, engraving designs for the forthcoming All Souls Day (UNDAS or Araw ng mga Patay or Kaluluwa)on November 1st. I was amazed by the tenacity of the lady's work. Then, braving myself, I immediately asked permission to have her photographed. I introduced myself as a blogger and a hubber as well for proof. I even wrote it on the pad of blank paper, available at the counter of one of the shops.

Little did I know that the lady is also the owner of the marble shop and her daughter and son is alwso working there. Wow! It's a family business at its best!

And they own most of the marble shops, there. They didn't only design lapida or marble marker for the dead. You can also buy marble works, such as mortar and pestle,  marble statues of saints and the Holy Family and other figurines that you can use as gifts this coming Christmas season.

Here's the proof of my 'little adventure' for you to admire.

Diana Golden-Brosnihan: How She Fought Breast Cancer 'til the End

A 'love story' out of breast cancer? Yes, fellow hubbers, two people became closer because of this 'dreaded' disease that claimed the life of Diana Golden in 2001. Did the name ring a bell to you. I'm sure you do, if you're a fan of Winter Olympics or skiing as your favorite sport.
Her story, personal life and the battle against breast cancer is a formidable testimony that we can eliminate the disease in the years to come, mostly affecting women and men, too. Diana Golden was the one who manifested that all athletes should be equally treated regardless of her ability or disability.
Family, friends and fans of Miss Golden will really miss her 'enthusiasm' as she battled this disease, even it cost her temporary life.
As a hubber, I am just re-echoing her persistence to 'never miss' living a life, even if your body is invaded by this deadly disease. The news, obituaries and her inspiration will stay in the memories of those who believe in the cause she's fighting for: Eradicate BREAST Cancer!!!

A Simple Itch Can Cause Breast Cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

I was startled by the news brought about by my mother, who's active in community service as barangay councilor, regarding one of the mothers in our place, believed to be suffering from breast cancer. The mother, who's breastfeeding her 5 month-old baby, suffered an itchy rash on her left breast last month.

She said she continued scratching it due to its itchiness but it became a inflamed and became a full-blown open wound. My mother told the husband to better send the ailing mother in the hospital but the family cannot afford to do so because they don't have enough money for the treatment.

The problem with our local health center at our place is that it only opens Wednesday every week with the presence of a resident midwife managing and distributing medicines to the residents. So, there's no available help to ease the burden of the mother.

They resorted to herbal medicines, but the open wound became malignant and another two wounds appeared on the breast. It has a smelly pus, like a decaying dead rat, according to her friends.

If only I have enough money to help her...

Travel Man's Art Galore

One year of hubbing and still enjoying it.
I also love blogging, but am becoming confused on how to prioritize the two.

LINKAGES...

That's right. It's like husband and wife..the HubPages and the BlogSpot. The two have many things in common.
  • Google AdSense
  • eBay
  • Amazon
  • YieldBuild
ETCETERA...

One thing they share...is the MONETIZATION!!! Finally.

Just imagine how committed I am with these two these days...plus the SOCIAL MEDIA, like the Twitter and Facebook.
And other interesting sites, like the Flickr for photos, freewebs.com for free-making of your own website, among others!!!

HubCamp-Philippines: Soon?

Prolific hubber and HubPages staff Simone Smith happily announced the first-ever HP HubCamp (after four years) via Forums that will be held on October 6, 2010/6:00-8:30 pm at the Golden Gate Ballroom of the Serrano Hotel in California, USA with the theme: on how to become a better hubber and improve your online writing skills. Paul Edmonson, HP CEO and Founder, will be the main speaker on the said free event.
If you want to attend, the RSVP (French words = répondez s'il vous plaît, meaning "Please respond") man is Jason Menayan. With this, I left comments on HubPages' Facebook account and HubPages Blog.
The enthusiasm of hubbers, including me never fizzled but stayed on a high momentum while anticipating the said event.
When I read about the HubCamp, I thought it will be a week's outdoor camping and and series of writing activities focusing on the famous topics that hubbers around the world have written money-making hubs. Plus actual writing contest for the participants.I am dreaming of a huge get-together by world's prolific writers.
I'm sure in the next HubCamp sponsored by HubPages, it will be more fabulous with all the actual samplings on the hubs written by hubbers, particularly on Food (hehe!).
Present in spirit, but absent in person...this will be my drama as I wait for the outcome of the initial HubCamp. Good luck to you, guys!!!

The Fascinating One Thousand Islands

I fell in love with Canada, when the cargo ship that I worked for in 2008-2009 included almost all the provinces and key cities of the country surrounding the Seven Great Lakes. I've been at the ports of Quebec and Toronto last Christmas of 2008. The rigors of passing the locks of the lakes at the top of the mountains, just overlooking two countries (of course the United States of America) was awesome to remember. But the most vivid photos I've been longing to share with you were the beauty of the famed 'One Thousand Islands' and the two historic castles that were vocally and visually promoted by the port captains and visitors that went onboard our vessel. I left my heart on those islands and those friendly homeowners who can't stop waving on us when we shouted Christmas greetings on them. The cold and frigid air didn't stopped me from taking those memorable photographs including some videos.
This coming Christmas 2010, I'll recommend that you explore the islands and the two castles, Boldt and Singer Castles that I'm sure will be included in your itinerary. In Thousand Islands, Canada and USA meet at St. Lawrence Seaway and Ontario.
Please stay with me and be mesmerized by the photos and videos I've collated just for you.

http://hubpages.com/hub/The-Fascinating-One-Thousand-Islands-in-CanadaI'll entice you to visit one of the islands. You'll never regret you did. If you have the budget...choose one of the cozy hotels, befriend Canadian or American guides to help you get acquainted with the 'magic' of the Thousand Islands.

The Hot Springs and Boiling Lakes of Albay

I think, after the Penafrancia fiesta in Naga City...the best getaway for an 'injured, lost and broke' parishioner like me is to try a hot spring spa being visited by foreign and local tourists in Albay. Come...let us discover these spots once more in the towns of Tiwi and Manito of the said province here in Bicol, Philippines. Welcoming you is not enough to enjoy such natural spots. You should be here one day if you have enough budget to do it.
Many anecdotes of adventures were posted in the internet through blogs and here on HubPages but I will still add my personal account on this one.
The invitation to be there this week came from my friend, Lestat (changed his true name Lester for a more appealing feel on Facebook..hehe!). I said, I don't have much budget. he replied that everything will be okay (I trust him, you know). They've been busy at their TENT CAMP last week in Santo Domingo Albay, where you can visibly observe the Mayon Volcano activities and take photos at every angle you desire.
So, off I go this week. But allow me to share with you photos and other stills that came from fellow Bicolanos whom I had to get the credit because my original photos are not enough as my digital camera is not functioning so well these days (due to the nth time 'accidental fall'. I had to share with you this hub this early . My itinerary started Friday morning that ended in the evening back in Naga City; so, I hope you'll stand by with this hub for further adventure of yours truly, travel_man1971.

100 Days Countdown to Christmas in the Philippines

100 days before Christmas in the Philippines involve ample preparations until the celebration of the birth of the Messiah (Jesus Christ), traditionally done on December 25th. This is probably the longest commemoration being held in the country involving traditional and modern ways to show the religiosity of the people.
When you hear the word 'pasko' (it means pascua in Spanish or Christmas), you are already in the country.
The countdown started September 17 this year (2010). Prior to this, the lighting of the commemorative 'parols' or star-lanterns adorning key cities' plazas started at the first day of the said month.
As early as this date and writing, I am starting to collect shots of memorable photos this coming Christmas at places that interest me. I started interviewing close friends regarding their views and opinions on the forthcoming event this December.
My friends share the same opinion: "that Christmas brings positive outlook in life to most people, Christians, especially and inspiration to strive more for the greater glory of God."
So, allow me to unfold my little discoveries regarding the most anticipated holiday season in the Christiandom. How about some comments from you, too?

Knowing Nick Vujicic

http://hubpages.com/hub/Who-is-Nick-VujicicReally, does his name sounds familiar to you? Have you met him in person? Did he tell you how to live without arms or legs? Did you consider him normal and lucky? Well, it’s up to your perception. But Nick Vujivic personally preaches that “he’s a man without limbs”, yet his life is “without limits.” He is the living proof so that the works of God may be revealed in his life.
Firstborn
Nick Vujicic was born on December 4, 1982, the first baby of a Serbian couple in Melbourne, Australia. His father who is a pastor can’t believe what happened like his mother who cannot accept the physical outcome of her firstborn child.
The doctors have no answers of the defects of the baby who was born without limbs, but later called the deformities Tetra-amelia. The whole church was shocked about his existence. Praising God was far from their lips. They questioned why the God of love will let it happened. Even his father thought he will not survive, but tests proved that Nick was a healthy baby boy-just a few limbs missing.
And so, the adventure of a lifetime begins.
Suicide attempt
As early as ten years old, Nick Vujicic is planning a suicide attempt because he cannot endure the bullying he’s getting in school. Because of physical difference, his classmates and people in the community were concluding that he’s also mentally challenged.
Due to his mother’s insistence, Nick was accepted in the mainstream school in Australia and lives like an ordinary boy. His parents were his strong support during those years. Slowly, other students realized that the boy without limbs is just like them. One by one they became Nick’s friends.
Even so, he still felt depressed and angry about his life. Oftentimes, he asked God why He made him like this- a boy without limbs.
Awakening
As Nick’s grow, he began to understand his existence. He started appreciating God’s plan for him. At age 15, he gave his life fully to Jesus Christ. He read John 9 from the Holy Bible where Jesus explained that the reason a man was born blind was “so that the works of God may be revealed in his life.” In other words, if it is God’s will, it will happen in his time.
Nick became more independent and can take care of his personal needs. He can even cook his own meal! He uses an electric wheelchair to carry him around his home in California. He likes swimming, soccer and fishing. Can you imagine that?!
Career
At 23, Nick completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree with a double major in Accounting and Financial Planning. He also started to become the most sought motivational speaker in many churches around the world, starting from his continent, Australia. He travels internationally to speak to Christian congregations, schools and corporate meetings.
The rest is history in the making.
Nick Vujicic in TriMedia
At 26, Nick hopes to grace The Oprah Winfrey Show in order to promote his goals in life. He busy writing books to help strengthen others. His first book, planned for completion by the end of 2009, is to be called No Arms, No Legs, No Worries!.
Prior to this, with the help of his family in Australia he launched his motivational DVD, Life's Greater Purpose, which is also available on the Life Without Limbs website. Most of the DVD was filmed in 2005, featuring a brief documentary about his home life, and how he does regular things without limbs. The second part of the DVD was filmed at his local church in Brisbane and was one of his first professional motivational speeches. His motivational speeches can be seen on the Premiere Speakers Bureau Website.
His corporate motivational company "Attitude is Altitude" launched his secular DVD "No Arms, No Legs, No Worries" which is available online.
Last year, the 20/20 (ABC) television show with Bob Cummings interviewed Nick and was aired worldwide on March 28, 2008.
An inspirational movie was created around Nick Vujicic called "The Butterfly Circus" it can be viewed at http://www.thedoorpost.com/hope/TheButterflyCircus/
My Personal Encounter with Nick Vujicic
I was on board a merchant vessel way back 2007 when I had the chance to have a copy of a special free magazine from Chinese-Christian Mission donated by the Seaman’s Center in Houston, Texas, USA.
Reading the magazine, CHALLENGER Vol. 45, OCT-DEC 2006 issue, awakened and renewed my faith in God when I read about Nick’s testimonies. I really cried for him and at the same time started my admiration for him because of his courage to do a grand task by spreading the Word of God around the world.

Why do we, normal people, keep on whining everyday about what we lack in material things? We have so much to give if only we follow Nick Vujicic’s example.

Is Tabetha Jo Prick the Nex Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2011?

A 5'11" stunning beauty from Balogo, Pasacao, Camarines Sur...former Miss Bicolandia 2007 Tabetha Jo Frick, 20 years old, is sure to follow the steps of the freshly awarded Maria Venus Raj, Miss Universe 2010 fourth runner-up at the Binibining Pilipinas 2011.
Miss Raj was Miss Frick's 2nd runner up when she was crowned Miss Bicolandia 2007. When my former radio colleague, Ms. Doris Olivan, alerted me about the whereabouts of the former beauty titlist, I dig a little research and found out that she joined the buns of beauties during the most controversial staging of Binibining Pilipinas in 2008.
Filipinos from all over the world were disgusted of the redundant answer of the crowned Bb. Pilipinas Universe 2008 Janina San Miguel. Maybe luck favored her that night as our local beauty, Tabetha Jo, just settled to be included at the top 10 semi-finalists where in fact, she gave the best answer during the Q & A portions at the preliminaries.
I followed the grapevine at MISSOSOLOGY and still, they can't stop talking about the 2008 embarassing event.
The performance of Tabetha were praised although some criticized her stature as fat-bellied, courtesy of baby fats, (maybe because she was just 17 turning 18 during the 2008 pageant). But as I reviewed the posted photos, I can see no reason why she didn't made it to the Final 5, even though sha has all the 3 Bs a candidate should possess and carry during the contest...BODY,BEAUTY and BRAIN.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed...with all the support that she's receiving at her Fan Page in Facebook from her countrymen, the Bb. Pilipinas-Universe title will not be elusive anymore for her.

One Year of Blogging and Hubbing

I was tinkering my surviving netbook. My laptop of two years have been busted by viruses and transporation anomalies. I have to try the latest offering from a rugged yet affordable product and reliable companion to hub. And here it was. I began reminiscing about the things that happened to me a year ago. I cannot blame myself to like HubPages. It's addicting to write about something, huh?! And my adventure started with the word...hub.
As the Goggle Search toolbar quickly presented hundred thousands of searches, the first in the search was HubPages, an online writing community.
Hmmm...interesting, I said to myself. Better avail of the invitation to sign up, write an article and earn money for free. No other requirements needed but the activation of affiliates, mainly the Google AdSense ( with its Analytics), eBay, Amazon, Kontera, among others and the rich content of every hub a writer made. The monetization is soon to follow as readers and fellow hubbers follow you, click your ads, read your stories, poems, articles or even picture hubs.
After a year, I'm still here, enjoying my stay as I counted my earnings every month and waiting that my first threshold will come this September 2010.http://hubpages.com/hub/My-First-Year-in-HubPages

Baby Herbal Soup in China: Truth or Fallacy?

BABY HERBAL SOUP in China?! I don’t know how to react on this kind of horrifying news. I asked my cousin who, for the last month, tried to send me the forwarded message attached with pictures from her Yahoo email account. I tried researching for the authenticity of the information and I’d found supporting facts about this so-called exotic food in China. You'll have to find out if this true or not...a HOAX, in other words.

My exact sentiment about this information is horrible. How on Earth should the government of China allowed this kind of treatment to human fetuses? I can’t even eat my vegetable soup whenever I remember the vivid photos of the procedure of cooking such kind of soup dish documented by local reporter-photographer in one of the town of Canton (pronounced Guangdong), a Chinese place famous for its noodles.

The shocking news circulated in China as early as year 2008.

Baby Herbal Soup

The reasons behind the making of the so-called baby herbal soup is health and sexual stamina. It is an unusual delicacy that is steamed/boiled with chicken meat and mixed with expensive herbs for at least eight hours. It costs about 4,000.00 dollars (or more than a hundred thousand yuan, currency in China. So, only the wealthy or the rich could afford this kind of delicacy.

The Revelation of a Factory Manager

When asked by a reporter, a local factory manager who was already 62 years back then testified that he is a regular customer of the baby herbal soup. He remarried again to a 19-year old woman (now 20) and the soup made his libido or sex prowess alive.

He took the reporter to the restaurant when he was informed by the manager that the “spare rib soup”, code name for baby soup was already available.

The Horrible Reality in China

The one child policy of China brought danger and fears to families who wanted more babies.

One case was stated that there was a couple who had already two daughters and the woman became pregnant again. She had no choice but to abort the third baby which according to the ultrasound was also a girl.`

There are costs or prices for babies according to certain situations. If the baby dies a natural death, the buyer will pay for 6000 yuan. Those aborted ones cost a few hundred yuan. If a couple don’t want to sell their dead baby, the placenta will be a good alternative and be bought for two hundred yuan. (I thought, placenta is also an ingredient for a special soap used by women.)

Reporter's Comment

The reporter who covered this shocking event commented that the concern of Chinese government on health and one child policy backfired on them. The policy emphasizes on having male babies that forced families with female babies to sell them or leave them in an orphanage.

Lost in translation

I cannot read Chinese, much more write it. I understand a few words like Ni hao ma (How are you?) or thank you (shezhen). I don’t know; I’m really bothered by the article made by the local newspaper in Canton.

What happened or existing in that town is really sickening. At least, you already have an idea about what is happening in China nowadays. Exotic or fancy food? I’ll better stick to vegetables and familiar dishes that I know.

Valuable links

I was not the only one who featured this kind of hoax, a revelation that can put a nation to shame because an email scam continues to circulate in many parts of the world everyday.

  • http://ethicalmartini.wordpress.com/ Ethical Martini, the name of the blog site featured the title 'Baby Herbal Soup' last June 3, 2008 and updated it last February 4, 2009. Urban legend meets email scam to the fullest!!!
  • http://threatinfo.trendmicro.com/ Ba Kut Teh: The China Way of Cooking Hoax also denounces the email scam.
  • http://www.charonboat.com/ The site features pictures of gruesome origins, like killings or execution, humiliating the dead ones, suicide, et cetera, including the pictures of the so-called Baby Herbal Soup.
There are about 22, 700 searches regarding the topic: Baby Herbal Soup in China. It was even featured in many television shows and forums, as well, like in Singapore, the rest of Asia, US, Europe and other parts of world. The news was really sensational, that until now, it created too much stirs and fright to those who have seen the pictures.

When a documentary about Zhu Yu and other "transgressive"Chinese artists in the UK way back 2003 was aired on television, people complained in a terribly upset tones.

A channel 4 spokesman still aired the interview with Zhu Yu and his colleagues, although the public reacted negatively about it.

Zhu Yu was heard quoting: "No religion forbids cannibalism."

"Nor can't I find any laws that prevent us from eating people. I took advantage of the space between morality and the law and based my work on it."

Mr. Yu claims to be a Christian and further said that religion plays a major role in his work.

So there. Are there any proof that this hub is true?

Maguindanao link

http://hubpages.com/hub/Tragedy-in-Philippine-Media-cries-for-Justice

I kept on asking myself about the atrocities that are happening in many parts of the world, especially human rights violations. Babies have the right to live. Journalists killed in Maguindanao, Mindanao, Philippines have the right for freedom of expression. Oppressing our basic needs is inhumane.

This is not a hoax anymore.

Picking up the pieces

As if in a song, I've tried composing myself to try to call you. I don't got the nerve to do it. Maybe, I'm paranoid, but your face kept on haunting me, every night, every day. The meaning of the love songs played on the radio didn't seem to affect me anymore. I'm feeling numb, inside and out. The numbness of being alone, without anyone to talk to.
I've tried drowning myself to sleep for the past two months. The hurting feeling was replaced by hallucinations at night because of the booze. I didn't do drugs. The wine and hard liquors I had drank during the dark, cold nights are my friends now. They are my escape to reality; a reality that has no meaning. The emptiness inside of me seemed unfathomable. Whenever I sleep, I felt like dropping, like a weightless feather in an endless black hole. I tried screaming but I cannot hear my voice, my shout. The voiceless shout I uttered will drove me to wake up groggily.
And yet, the house is still empty.
Our relationship is like that of other couples. We started as friends, then went to an intimate stage. We prayed it will last forever, but forever is not a reality. It became a nightmare for both of us. Unguarded moments made us utter harsh remarks. As emotional as you are, you cannot stand my silence. I didn't want to confront you verbally. I want you to think what you've said, what you've done. I believe that in silence, there is more understanding about the things we've done.
Our friends intervened. They didn't know the truth about our separation but, they kept on meddling in our affairs. I cannot stand all the nagging and questioning. They should respect our opinion, yours and mine but they continue.
Ah. woman, I cannot understand you. You get the community involved. What more can I do but to escape and live in solitude. I don't want to hear shouting and harsh words. It will only make the wounds painful.
Even if we become friends again,it will never be the same just like before. There will always be a gap between us. A wall of silence, that is. A barrier that will lead me to another road of uncertainty. Facing the uncertain future will be hard and bumpy because you're not with me.
The plans we made will be erased in my mind. I will have to make a new resolution for a new beginning, just like you'll do. It will be difficult at first but we'll persevere. Everytime we fall, there are always a chance to rise up again.
We'll be in our own separate ways. Although, the love we had was bittersweet; it will be my stepping stone to look for that elusive true love. I know, in my heart, you'll do it, too. To forget me and to save the best for last love that will come to both of us.
The crying, the bitterness...empty room, empty hearts...really our love was not meant to be.

Look and feel good every day

Non-Invasive Beauty Procedures in 2010

It’s there already. Women who are beauty-conscious may already knew these non-invasive beauty procedures (NIBP) for a year or two. For men who are ageing like me, and adding weight and fats in my tummy or stomach, arms or whole body, these can be helpful to at least rejuvenate ourselves this year. It will not require cutting your body parts through surgery or sewing it again just to loose weight and beautify ourselves. It can only be a one-month session or weeks or days only. Mind you, these are the things we should do this year if all hubbers want to look and feel beautiful and handsome inside and out, whatever age bracket we belong. NIBP is both a beauty and weight loose regimen without undergoing our body parts in the doctor’s scalpel.

Diet Injection

Obese patients are the priority and best candidates of this weight loose program. Diet injection is a 30-day treatment involving a 21-injection package. The procedure is on a daily basis with only a day of rest a week. The injection content is called HCG (human chorionic ghonadotropin) that is present in female body during pregnancy period. HCG mobilizes our body fats and converts it into energy source.

When I watched one health television show last Sunday (January 17, 2010) with Dra. Vicky Belo, MD, Cosmetic Surgeon and Beauty Expert as the interviewee, she said that maintenance medication is a no-no during diet injection. It only requires 500-calorie daily diet, no cheating by taking diet pills that can suppress one’s appetite. Daily exercise is also a plus during the session.

Diet injection is best for fats that are inside our body parts, like liver and abdomen, not just in our skin or body flesh. It doesn’t require liposuction or fat removal through this kind of surgical procedure. It is just about diet discipline.

You can loose one pound of weight per day. It takes three days to get out with the effects of HCG. There’s no residual effects like nausea and feeling hungry during the procedure.

Ultrasonic procedures

This refers to the weight loose procedures involving high-frequency sounds. Fat reduction and body contouring are the main purposes of the regimen. Unlike, liposuction and tummy tuck, it doesn’t require sedation of the patient or customer.

Nova Shape - A special ultrasonic instrument will be used by introducing ultrasound frequency or ultrasonic energy into the fatty parts of our body like the belly part of our stomach, hips, thighs and arms. Fats are being broken to small particles due to the induced frequency and excrete it through perspiration, urine and bowel movement. Some patients or customer will tell their doctors that they are having fatty excretes or feces.

Tenor - It involves uni-polar and bipolar radio frequency technology. A 6-8 sessions, once a week will be enough to perm your body flesh for a year. If your face looks young because of this heat and wave procedure, you must also include perming the skin of your body. Fats will be melted by the heat being emitted by the machine and radio waves that will remove it from your body.

Apollo (Multipolar) - It’s a combination of both (Nova Shape and Tenor). Skin tightening treatment and rejuvenation altogether are the best results you will see after undergoing the treatment.

Thermage CPT - This is the best treatment after liposuction. Six perm classes will be required for the patient to undergo. Same procedures will be conducted just like the first 3 mentioned weight loose procedures. Most importantly, it requires no sedation at all.

These non-invasive beauty procedures (NIBP) requires a huge budget for your healthy lifestyle. If you don’t have enough money to go to your favorite beauty center, daily exercise with proper diet will do.

Eighteen years of being a victim of witchcraft

This is a grim situation my brother is fighting nowadays. It began eighteen years ago by trusting other people whom he befriended in the city of Manila here in the Philippines. Fernando, my brother is a victim of barang, a Filipino kind of witchcraft which is rampant in the country. It is derived from the western occultism and dark art of witchcraft that cause too many havocs in so many innocent lives.

My brother finished his college in the early 90s as a mechanic. Eventually, after graduation he was hired by a big multi-national company owned by a well-known personality in the country as a chief mechanic. His role ranged from supervising his people and assembling heavy trucks used for commercial purposes.

Being new in Manila brought him to a boarding house in one of the main cities of the metropolis. The family, composed of the couple, son and daughter, parents in law, lured my brother to live with them without knowing their ulterior motive to enslave him to a kind of witchcraft called barang.

At first, they treated my brother as their eldest son. In return, he gave them all the gratitude he could offer even his weekly wages to support his newfound family in the city. He even brought his landlady to our home in the province. I was irked and disgusted because rumors spread the she is my brother’s woman. She is old enough to be his mother. I asked his landlady why he accompanied my brother when in fact she is a married woman.

The frank words that I uttered to the woman triggered her to abuse the kindness of my brother. My family and I didn’t know that she knows how to use barang or witchcraft.

A year later, we heard the news about the freak accident that my brother encountered while repairing a television set at the woman’s house. It’s raining outside when he adjusted the antennae at the rooftop of the house. The woman’s son was watching my brother when he accidentally grab the main line of electricity. The kid ran for help while he fought for life by resisting the effects of the 3,000 volts of electricity that left him with wounded right hand. His pulse exploded and also his tummy and the back of his upper legs. My mother was very angry at that time. She immediately went to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) while my father was left in the province to tend the farm. The woman claimed that my mother didn’t spent a single cent for the expenses of my brother opposite to the truth that my mother exhausted our resources for the hospital bills. She didn’t even said sorry for what happened to my brother. Even his husband didn’t clear and explained what happened to my brother at their house.

In 1998, when my father was hospitalized at the PGH for lung cancer, the couple who was summoned by my elder sister visited the death bed off my father. They said that they’re not collecting the earnings of my brother whom we thought that he’s in some kind of limbo because he didn’t show any sad emotion like crying when my father died.

A year later, I graduated from culinary school. I was ready to go to Manila for a further training at the seaman’s center and complete my requirements to work overseas on board a merchant vessel. I borrowed P10,000.00 (ten thousand pesos) from my brother. Later, I learnt that it was borrowed by the older woman from a loan shark which she later claimed that it was her own money contrary to the truth that it was my brother’s earnings.

The dark side of barang

This kind of witchcraft is killing my brother slowly. He is experiencing memory lapses and the only thing that he wanted to do everyday is his job as chief mechanic. He don’t even have a clear account of the death of my father in 1998. He don’t even remember that he wore a pair of eyeglasses when he attended the burial. He looked like a 50-year old man when he escaped from the room that his landlady-witch used for her dark and deadly schemes.

Just recently, he quarreled with the old woman when he realized that he acquired bruises and insect bites without actually knowing its cause. He said he see the woman praying whenever he’s awake at night. With all the candles, surrounding his picture and a voodoo doll full of insects (ants, usually) and cement on its head, and small plastic basin full of water, he ignored the eerie environment because someone is always whispering in his ears just to concentrate on his work. He also retold the incident that the old woman gave her a cat as pet. The unusual thing about the cat was it was chained by the woman. The woman said he should take care of it that he did.

Luckily, another woman became his ‘guardian angel’. Not far from his work, he met Melda while he was walking going to his work. Their eyes met and the thing that caught her attention was my brother’s way of dressing (closed-neck flannel long sleeve shirts and a bull cap. Melda own a store which my brother frequently visit. She noticed unusual markings on my brothers arms and face. She told him that he should wear appropriate clothes for the tropical climate of our country. She was horrified of what he saw in my brother’s arms. Aside from insect bites on his arms, she saw bites all over his body. My brother said it didn’t itch a bit, so she didn’t have to worry.

When the old woman knew that he was befriending another woman, she got angry and nearly cut my brother’s right finger. She took care of my brother for nearly a year until the woman discovered. My brother said that he never use the old woman, sexually. Although, he had memory lapses, he claimed that the only thing clear to him is his work.

When my brother decided to seek my sister’s help the first day of the new year, the old woman insisted to accompany him. But my brother declined instead he ask the help of Melda to accompany him to my sister’s house. There, my sister sought the help of our cousin who knows how to oppose the effects of the witchcraft.

The next events when retold  by my brother seemed bizarre to me. The pieces of hardened cement on his head, the white sticky sap of jackfruit on his left arm and many insects (ants, etc.) form his right arm awakened me to the reality that evil deeds are spreading in the world right now!

Aftermath of the curse

My sister immediately sought the help of the local officials at my brother’s place. With the help of Melda, they asked bystanders the whereabouts of the boarding house. The barangay tanod or local guards led them to the abode of the old woman. The door was slightly open when they call the woman. My sister was aghast when they found out in action what the woman was doing. She’s into an actual ritual of barang with all the candles around the picture of my brother! She didn’t recognize my sister but when she saw Melda, the old woman went berserk shouting at the top of her voice that it was Melda’s fault why my brother left her.

At present, my brother’s belongings: clothes, appliances and mechanic’s tools were brought to the barangay hall for clearance. The lupons or elder local judges of the barangay heard the complaints of my sister against the older woman who used to be my brother’s landlady. I said to them to file for theft because the woman didn’t want to return my brother’s ATM (automated teller machine) card. All my brother’s earnings went to the woman and her family. Even, we cannot accuse her and put her to jail because of witchcraft, at least the case for theft or robbery can put her inside the cell.

Furthermore, the old woman was ranting my name because she claimed that she helped me with my training before going overseas which was a blatant lie. How can she have money without having a job? The worst of it, I also experienced the bizarre consequences that my brother felt. When he came home three days after the new year here in he province, we went to the beach for two days to soak our bodies in the seawater. But you will not believe what I’ve found when I felt an itchiness on the left side of my neck: it’s an ant!. There’s no ant crawling on the beach. Where did it came from?

Fighting the ‘barang’

Although, I am skeptic at first, we can fight evil people around us. I we read the Holy Bible, there are many passages in the Books of Old and New Testaments warning us against the minions of the Devil or Satan. Our belief for the Creator of God Almighty should be strengthened, because materialism is apparent nowadays. Most of us are lured into the worldly gains that we often forget that these blessings comes from the Lord.

These evil people can never destroy our physical and spiritual bodies if we surrender ourselves to God. I admit that I was blinded by the material world. I we are strong in our belief to the Creator, evil deeds will never defeat us.
